Shop questions

Twelve questions we answer every single week.

Do I need an appointment?

For anything over half an hour, yes, so a bay is ready when you arrive. Oil changes and quick checks can often wait at the counter. Book online any hour, or phone (250) 555-0187, 8 to 5.

How do I know what it will cost before you start?

Every job starts with a written estimate you approve, built from book hours at $118, parts at cost plus 20%. If anything changes once we are inside, the work stops until you say yes. The services page shows the from-prices.

Why do you charge for a diagnostic?

Reading a code takes a minute. Finding the cause takes a trained hour. The diagnostic is $89 flat, and it comes off the bill when you approve the repair with us. Why diagnostics cost money.

Will servicing my car here affect the factory warranty?

In Canada you can have scheduled maintenance done at an independent shop. Keep every invoice with the date, kilometres and VIN on it. We print all three. Warranty repairs themselves still go to the dealer. The full answer.

What warranty do you give?

12 months / 20,000 km on parts and labour, whichever comes first, printed on every invoice.

Can I bring my own parts?

Usually not. We can only warranty parts we sourced, and a part that fails twice costs you two labour bills. If there is a part you want, tell us and we will order that exact one.

Do you get my old parts back to me?

Your old parts come back in a bag, or we recycle them for you and note it on the invoice. Your call, every time.

When do I need winter tires around here?

On Highway 3 and most mountain routes, Oct 1 to Apr 30. Some valley routes, like 3A and 6, end Mar 31. The winter tire guide has the details, and the changeover picker shows which weeks are quiet.

Do you do body work, glass or windshields?

No. We are a mechanical and tire shop. For collision repair and ICBC claims, an accredited collision shop is the right call, and a glass shop handles chips and windshields. We are glad to tell you who we would use.

Do you work on fleets and work trucks?

Yes. A fleet account holds a bay each morning, sets an approval limit per truck, and puts every job on one monthly invoice.

Can I drop the car off before you open?

Yes. Leave the keys in the slot by the office door, any hour, with a note or your booking name. You get a text when the car is on the hoist.

How do I pay?

Debit, credit or e-transfer, at the counter or by phone. Fleet accounts get one statement a month, due in 30 days.

Still wondering?

Phone the counter at (250) 555-0187, Mon to Fri 8:00 to 5:00. A person who was just under a car will pick up.
