A year at the shop
- August: Road-trip season. Brakes and coolant before the passes, not after.
- October: Changeover month. The board fills by the second snowfall, so September books the bay.
- Midwinter: Highway 3 winter rules run to April 30. Wipers, batteries, brakes: the cold finds everything.
- Spring melt: Tires off, alignments on. The gravel and the potholes did their work; we undo it.

The promise on paper
Every job starts on paper you can read.
You approve a number before any wrench comes out. If the job changes, the work stops until you have said yes again. AAA found two out of three drivers distrust repair shops (2016 survey), so here are the four fair questions, each with the mechanism that answers it.
“Will they invent work I don’t need?”
You get photos of the problem before we touch anything, and the worn part back in a bag afterward. Evidence at both ends of the job.
“Will the bill be bigger than the quote?”
The estimate is written and you approve a number. If anything changes, the work stops until you have said yes on the phone.
“How do I know the parts went in?”
Parts are billed at cost plus a stated 20 percent, the supplier invoice is yours to see, and the old parts come back with the car.
“Will I get talked down to?”
Every line on the bill is written in the words you used at the counter. Ask twice and Rae answers twice. Nobody here sighs at a question.

BC sets no minimum warranty on repairs. Ours is in writing on every invoice, because a promise you can hold is worth more than one you have to take on faith.
